Scroungy Dogs and Pretty Pups Rescue is based in Loveland, Colorado with foster families all over Northern Colorado. We will consider adoptive families in Colorado and surrounding areas only. This is simply due to logistics and distance of travel. Our goal is to make the best rescue match taking into consideration the animal's background and your family's needs. Every animal is different: personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs and more. We take all these factors into consideration when making a furever-home match. We are very careful about the placements we make. We do our best to match the right animal with the right adoptive home because we want this to be the pet's permanent home.
The first step is to fill out an application! One of our volunteers will review it to make sure we agree. If it’s not, we will reach out to discuss our concerns and we will review our other pets to see if there’s one that would work better for your situation.
We appreciate you wanting to bring a animal into your home. In order for us to find the right pet for you, we need you to submit an adoption application.
We do not arrange meetings with our animals unless you complete an application first. All of our animals are in private foster homes, so we don’t send prospective adopters to those homes unless we are sure it’s a good fit. We hope you understand.
One of our volunteers will review your application upon receipt. If we have any questions or concerns, we will contact you for clarity.
Our volunteers will evaluate your preferred animal for fit within your household. We may also identify other animals currently in our foster care program who may be a good fit for you and your family.
Once your application review is complete, a Scroungy Dogs and Pretty Pups Rescue volunteer will contact you to discuss the adoption process and all-things pet. During the call, we review any specifics about the animals and answer any questions you might have.
One of our volunteers will send you your preferred animal's medical records and any other records that we might have for you to review.
Once approved to adopt, the adoption coordinator will put you in direct contact with the animal's foster. The foster will then reach out to set up a meet and greet at a time and place that work for both of you.
We recommend that all members of the household and other animals (as appropriate) go to the meet and greet. This is the time to see how your potential new family member interacts with everyone and determine if they're the right fit.
Is this the right fit for you? Do you have all of the information you need to make the commitment to adopt? We want to make sure that each placement is with a great mutual fit. You can take your new friend home the same day as the meet and greet or take a few days to think it over.
Once you've made the decision to adopt, it's time to sign the agreement and make payment. This is typically done through a link that will be emailed to you when the meet and greet has been set up.
Now it's time to take your new family member home! Congratulations on finding a purrrfect fit! You've helped us fullfil our mission and save a life.
